Beachfront Room at an Ocho Rios all-inclusive for US$184 per night for two

Just when you thought it would be hard to find really good deals in the Caribbean in January, it turns out it’s still early enough to find some. Ocho Rios is a lovely beach resort area on the north shore of Jamaica, a short drive from the airport in Montego Bay, and here you can get a Beachfront room for well under US$200 even in the high season.

The Shaw Park Beach Hotel All Inclusive is a 3-star property on a long private beach on a secluded bay, and you can get a Beachfront Room for only US$184 per night for two people in January. As we’ve discussed before, anything under US$200 per night is basically like getting a free room when you add in the cost of the food, drinks, and activities for two people, so this one is hard to pass up.

The Deal

A Beachfront Room at the Shaw Park Beach Hotel All Inclusive in Ocho Rios, Jamaica for US$184 per night. A Beachfront Superior Room is larger and only US$217 per night, and the Beachfront Deluxe is larger still and has even more amenities for US$268 per night.

The Details

These rates are available from Expedia, our booking partner, and they include free cancellation. There is no minimum stay required to get the rate, but of course they are only available for select dates until the resort is full.

Three star beach resort at two star prices

Since January is the high season in the Caribbean, and Ocho Rios is one of the nicer beach areas, you have to be realistic about resort deals like this. The Shaw Park Beach Hotel All Inclusive is a solid 3-star hotel with generally positive reviews, but there is a reason why most 4-star resorts charge twice as much this time of year. Still, at US$184 per night for two people, it’s hard to go wrong.

The rooms at that rate are fairly basic, but they do have a sea view and a TV with English-language channels, and you’ll be spending most of your time at the beach or pool anyway. THere are only 94 rooms here, so it’s a bit like a boutique resort compared to the usual 600-room towers in Cancun and along the Riviera Maya.

There are two restaurants, two bars, plus a disco, but as a beach resort most of the attention is when the sun is up. You get kayaking, sailing, and snorkeling included in the room rate, as well as volleyball, table tennis, bing, shuffleboard, and a fitness center. They even have free wi-fi available in the lobby, which is something you might have to pay quite a bit for at other resorts.

Have a look at the photos of this resort and you’ll see that it’s not as posh as the really expensive ones, but it’s perfect for a relaxing time in the tropical breezes when it’s freezing back home. You can also get cheap flights into Montego Bay from almost anywhere, so the whole vacation will be affordable.
