Lately we’ve been concentrating mostly on deals in the Caribbean because prices are so incredible this time of year, but many regular readers have asked that we also highlight deals on the Pacific side of things, and there’s some great news. Being completely honest, one reason the Caribbean is so cheap during September and October is that many people worry about hurricanes, but in the Pacific, the chances of being in the path of a hurricane are basically zero.
The fantastic news is that October is very cheap even on the Pacific side, in spite of it being the beginning of the dry season. In other words, Mazatlan is one of the resort cities with basically perfect weather in October, yet prices are still about half what you’ll pay in December.
A Double Ocean or Garden View Room at the Riu Emerald Bay All Inclusive Resort in Mazatlan for US$146 per night for two people.
This rate is 50% off and only available through our booking partner, Expedia, and it also includes free cancellation. The rate is available on select dates in the coming months, and there is no minimum stay required, so it can be part of just a weekend trip.
A large resort provides more choices and better value
The Riu Emerald Bay All Inclusive has 716 rooms in its 20-story tower, making it one of the largest all inclusive resorts on the Pacific coast. While the elevator ride down from the highest rooms might take a couple minutes, the fact that the resort is so large means that it’s able to provide many things that smaller resorts can’t.
There are four restaurants and three outdoor pools, so you can feel like you are in a different setting every day, without changing rooms or paying a thing for it. There’s also a nightclub, a full gym, a hair salon, and even a small grocery store. This is truly the kind of place where you can check in and not leave until the ride back to the airport, and yet you’ll never get bored.
Luxurious rooms for an incredible price
For many of the cheapest deals at these resorts you have to settle for a garden view room, but the Riu Emerald Bay All Inclusive is offering the same low price for rooms facing the Pacific ocean. If you haven’t been to a Pacific resort yet you should look forward to the lovely sunsets, which are far nicer than the sunrises you get on the Atlantic.
All rooms have either one kingsize or two double beds, plus a flatscreen TV, and a balcony with chairs. If you are looking simply to relax in comfort you’ll be happy to know that there is a stocked minibar and liquor dispenser in the room, which are included in the price, so you can have beer or cocktails for no extra charge without ever having to leave your room.
