Riviera Maya all-inclusive for US$226 per night for two

If you’ve got more money than you know what to do with, you probably spent Christmas week at a posh Caribbean resort, but if you are like most of the rest of us you are looking for better value. It can be difficult to find a room in that area for under US$500 per night during that week, though in the coming months you can find amazing places for half that, with all meals and drinks included.

This week’s deal is for the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum All Inclusive Resort, which has Superior Rooms for only US$226 per night for two people. Other rooms are only a bit more per night, which is quite amazing considering this is one of the best-reviewed all-inclusive resorts in Mexico.

The Deal

A Superior Room at the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum All Inclusive Resort for only US$226 per night for two people. A Junior Suite is only US$240 per night, Superior Club Hacienda room is US$252 per night, and a Junior Suite Club Hacienda is only US$273 per night. The Club rooms include free wireless internet and a welcome gift.

The Details

This promotion is available through Expedia as part of their Summer Sale deal, at 28% off. The deal is available for dates in May, so you don’t actually have to go in summer. All rates also include free cancellation so you can lock in a rate even if you aren’t sure you can find a good airfare.

Large rooms with lovely details

At these rates you might expect an old-fashioned motel-style room on a windy beach, but the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum is actually a fancy place that deserves the 3.5 stars it’s rated at. Even the Superior Rooms come with a marble bathroom and a furnished walk-out balcony with a garden, pool, or even a sea view. At most resorts you have to pay quite a bit more for a sea view, but here you might get one at the lowest rate.

The Junior Suites are even larger, and they include a jetted bathtub plus a few more features. For only US$14 more per night it seems worth it just for the nicer bathtub. There’s also a minibar in every room, and since this is an all-inclusive resort, it means that there are free beers and soft drinks filled into the thing daily.

High ratings and cheap flights

Perhaps the most convincing thing about this resort is that it maintains a 4.4 out of 5 rating on Expedia verified guest reviews. And 91% of guests recommend staying here, which is also a very high number, especially in this price range. It may not be surprising to learn that places that offer really appealing rates like this often score low on both of those counts because they cut corners. Here they don’t.

The last great feature is that the hotel is only about 90 minutes away from Cancun International Airport, which is the busiest airport in the Caribbean with cheap flights from almost everywhere. This means you’ll probably get a cheap nonstop flight and then you’ll live like a king for very little once you arrive.
