Riu Palace Riviera Maya is an all-inclusive resort located within the Playacar resort complex. The main area of Playa del Carmen itself is located two miles away. Sitting south of Cancun on the Caribbean coast, this area is known to be relaxed, yet cosmopolitan, and still small enough to be explored by foot. It features a variety of casual to upscale shops and restaurants. Some nearby attractions to this resort are the Xaman Ha Aviary, Playacar Golf Club and Xcaret Eco Theme Park. Tourists often go on day trips from Playa del Carmen to places like Xcaret, Xel-Ha, Tulum and the nearby island of Cozumel.

For people who want to fly into Mexico and stay at Riu Palace Riviera Maya, the closest airport is Cancun International. It is located about 32 miles from the hotel.

The Riu Palace Riviera Maya is set up on a white-sand beach, and also contains an outdoor pool, spa tub and children’s pool. Six restaurants and five bars are located on these grounds, and room service is available during certain hours. There is also an on-site fitness center and nearby Renova Spa that offers a variety of treatments and massages. A children’s club is available for those ages 4-12, and it offers daily activities, along with use of swimming pool and playground.

Additional resort amenities include 24-hour front help desk, multilingual staff, bellhop, hair salon, beauty services, gift shop/newsstand, complimentary high-speed wireless internet, elevator, on-site tennis, billiards, air-conditioned public areas, poolside bar, swim-up bar, business center, wedding services and free parking.

Riu Palace Riviera Maya has a total of 400 guestrooms, all of which come with balconies or terraces and separate sitting areas. Their bathrooms feature jetted bathtubs, hair dryers and complimentary toiletries. What’s included

When guests pay the all-inclusive room rate at Riu Palace Riviera Maya, they will not be charged extra for their daily meals and snacks, or for taxes and gratuities. Domestic and international alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages are also covered. This all-inclusive rate also includes lunches, snacks and drinks at partner properties Riu Playacar, Riu Yucatan, Riu Tequila, Riu Palace Mexico and Riu Lupita.

For guests that come with children ages 4-12, there is a children’s club they can go to for no extra cost. As for adults, there is free entry to nightly theme shows, live music and dance performances. Entrance and drinks are also covered at La Pinata, a nightclub at the partner property, Riu Tequila.

Guests are allowed to use equipment and participate in several water sports, such as snorkeling equipment, windsurfing, catamarans, kayaks and body boards. They may also take advantage of an introductory scuba-diving lesson in the pool. Use of the swimming pool, beach, chairs and towel service are no extra cost. The all-inclusive land sports are tennis, ping-pong, volleyball and use of fitness center.
