Gran Bahia Principe All Inclusive Resort in Tulum, Mexico

Gran Bahia Principe Tulum is an all-inclusive resort in the Riviera Maya region of Mexico. This beachfront resort is located next to a shopping and entertainment center. It is about 6 miles from Xel-Há, an archaeological site, and about 12 miles from Tulum. The area this resort is in is on the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, which touches the Caribbean Sea. Snorkeling is popular in this area, both in the sea and in cenotes, which are deep natural sink holes with exposed ground water. The city of Playa del Carmen and the island of Cozumel are also nearby. Jet skiing, scuba diving, horse riding and guided jungle tours are all popular tourist activities in this region.

Gran Bahia Principe Tulum is set up on a Caribbean beach, and also features outdoor swimming pools. Guests who stay here can take advantage of the trams that can shuttle them around the resort, as well as to the sister properties. There are also open-air buses that take guests from Gran Bahia Principe Tulum to the center of Hacienda Doña Isabel, the shopping and entertainment district.

For guests that come with their kids, this resort offers a children’s club for ages 4-12. The club features a clubhouse, playground and a variety of supervised indoor and outdoor activities. Some examples include painting, pool and beach games, contests and video games. As for adults, the resort puts on dance lessons, introductory scuba diving lessons, aerobics and an assortment of other games and contests throughout the day. Live music and dance are performed at night. For a surcharge, there is a two-mile jungle bicycle tour.

There are a total of 858 guestrooms at Gran Bahia Principe Tulum, and they are set up in 45 three-story terracotta villas. Their balconies are furnished with tables and two chairs, and they provide views of the garden, pool, beach or sea. The bathrooms come with shower/tub combinations, handheld shower heads, hair dryers and complimentary toiletries. Babysitting can be arranged for a charge.

Some other room amenities include air conditioning, ceiling fan, opening windows, access via exterior corridors, direct-dial phone, wake-up calls, cable television service, in-room safe, iron, ironing board, clock radio, minibar, complimentary bottled water, coffee/tea maker, electronic/magnetic keys and wireless high-speed internet access (surcharge).

What’s included

When guests pay the all-inclusive rate at Gran Bahia Principe Tulum, they will not be charged extra for many of the food and drink options, or for taxes and gratuities. The rate covers breakfast, lunch and dinner at the main buffet restaurant, 24-hour snacks at the snack bar, house wine with meals, in-room minibar drinks and drinks at two bars and the disco at adjacent Hacienda Doña Isabel shopping center. All domestic and selected imported alcoholic and domestic non-alcoholic soft drinks are covered, as well as food and drinks at sister resorts, Gran Bahia Principe Coba and Gran Bahía Príncipe Akumal (except for buffet restaurant, Riviera, and gourmet restaurant, Arlequin). A la carte dinners are paid for, but guests must make reservations and adhere to restrictions (a minimum three-night stay required: 3–4 night stays allow one reservation; 5–7 night stays allow two reservations).

Those ages 4-12 are allowed to participate in the supervised activities at the children’s club for no extra cost. There is also an evening mini-disco for kids.

As for all-inclusive adult entertainment, guests may watch the nightly amphitheater music and dance shows. Entrance to and drinks at La Rancherita disco and two other bars in Hacienda Doña Isabel is covered, as is late-night live music performance at Hacienda Doña Isabel.

Guests who stay at Gran Bahia Principe Tulum may exchange  privileges for use of facilities at neighboring sister resorts, Gran Bahía Príncipe Akumal and Gran Bahia Principe Coba, including restaurants, bars, and pools. There is no extra cost for the trams that shuttle guests around the resort or to Gran Bahía Príncipe Akumal, with continuous service from early morning until midnight. Guests may also take advantage of the shuttles that operate to Hacienda Doña Isabel from morning until after midnight.

For athletic types, there is a range of opportunities to rent equipment and participate in water sports. This includes windsurfers, snorkeling gear, catamarans, kayaks, boogie boards and a one-hour scuba diving lesson in a pool allowed per stay. Guests are free to use the two swimming pools, three spa tubs, beach/pool chairs and towel service for no extra fees.

The all-inclusive land sports at this resort are tennis, basketball, bicycles on site, beach volleyball, beach football and use of fitness center. Aerobics, aqua aerobics and dance classes are already paid for.
